DUM STORIES

These stories are interactive stories, written by its readers. There are two different story formats for you to choose from: "Choose Your Own Adventure" and "Book Style"

As you read the story, each page tells part of the story created by its readers. In the "Choose Your Own Adventure" format each page ends with two choices for what to do next. Click on one of the two links to read what happens next in the story. Where the "Book Style" format is just like a book with only one continuous storyline.

When you reach the end of the part that the readers before you have written, you can enter the next page of the story.

Below we have a list of DUM Stories, each with the start of that particular story. When you write a part to the stories, please keep it to a PG rating. Thanks, and enjoy!

CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE STORIES
Joe's Adventure
Joe is walking on a worn path in the middle of the woods. The trees wave in the slight breeze. Joe is whistling happily to himself as he walks, when he hears something. He looks over to his left, and finds an odd looking, worn down house standing behind some trees.

He stops, and looks at the house, then at the path ahead, wondering if he should go investigate.

Road Trip
Light from the setting sun streaked through the pine trees causing a strobe effect as he drove his truck along the two-lane road. He had been driving most of the day, putting distance between himself and his job. He was burnt out after many years of hard work without a vacation.

Earlier in the day after a particularly hard day at work, as he was driving home he had decided it was finally time for that vacation. He needed to get out of there, and put all of the stress behind him. He had raced home, and quickly threw together some clothes. Without so much as a second thought, he had put the suitcase of clothes into his truck, and took off.

He kept driving not sure where his final destination would be, but somehow knew he would find it. Sighing as he changed the radio station, he felt like his world would soon be better. The more miles he put between himself and his home, the better he felt. This road trip was just what he needed.

BOOK STYLE STORIES
Midnight Darkness
Chase was driving along on the dark and deserted road. The two-lane road weaved between the mountainous cliffs, dropping sharply fifty feet to the rocky ocean below. The headlights of his car cut into the midnight darkness beyond, illuminating the damp worn-down highway that lay ahead. Leaning forward and straining to see through the fog that was brought in by the ocean in the late evening hours, Chase drove faster than he normally would have in these conditions.

Chase was wearing shorts and a blue tee shirt. He had left his house in a rush, not expecting to be out in the chilly evening hours. He had short brown hair with brilliant blue eyes as clear as the sky. After working out in the gym for the last two years, he was in the best shape he ever has been.

The dashboard lights illuminated the contours of his face in a green contrast as he took the next turn a little too fast. He took his eyes off the road for a second to glance at his friend Jack who was sitting in the passenger seat next to him.

Looking down at the speed-odometer, he desperately wished the weather was better, so he would be able to get out of town faster. Still straining to see through the fog, he pushed down on the accelerator, driving too fast on the curving highway, speeding through the endless midnight darkness.
